Authors Beware: <clegalsbookclub17@gmail.com>
Another group of scammers is out and around the world offering to represent a Cleveland area book club, a legitimate organization.
The real book club uses this email address <clegalsbookclub@gmail.com>
The fraudsters use this email address below:
Clegals Book Club clegalsbookclub17@gmail.com
And they have stolen the identity of the real book club’s founder. It looks like it is coming from the company’s founder.
IDENTITY THEFY FOLLOWS: I’m S____ P______, Founder & Book Club Director of The CleGals Book Club in Cleveland, Ohio. We seek out books that give readers meaningful subjects to examine and discuss, particularly works that bring important social issues into focus through research, history, and real-world experiences.
The message is almost completely written with artificial intelligence to target an author’s book output. They’ll promise the moon and send you a link to empty your bank card or checking account.
And yes, the address has been blocked. I just thought this warning might save some author from disappointment and a loss of hard cash.
The same group also offers to provide author services for a fee. That spoof group of fraudsters is at info.debracowell570@gmail.com
